Sermon: "Not of This World"
Text: I Peter 2:9-1; John 17:13-16
INTRODUCTION: It is sometimes difficult for Christians to realize that they are not of this world even as Jesus was not of this world. Indeed, they are reffered to as "pilgrims and strangers" in this present world.
I.
WHAT IS TEH WORLD?

A. It is a system of order, behavior, fashion, and government over which Satan rules. We note that he, apparently, had

the authority to offer it is Jesus. (Matthew 4:8) Note also: Ephesians 2:1-3

B. The world is defined by John as "The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life." (I John 2:15-17)
II.
WHO ARE THOS OF "ANOTHER WORLD"

A. Those who have been born of the Spirit of God. "That is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit

B. Those whose affections are on things above. (Col. 3:1, 2)

C. Those who have been crucified with Christ

D. Those who do not allow themselves to become entangled with the affairs of this world. (II Timothy 2:4)
III.
EXAMPLE OF "OTHERWORLDLINESS"

A. Jesus is the greatest example of being able to live on this earth and yet not being "of this world." (John 17:14)

B. It is well to note that the principles that Jesus taught such as turning the other cheeek or living your enemy are

principles of the other world.

C. Many of the followers of jeus have also left for us examples of living by the principles of another world. Note, for

example, Stephen and Dorcas.
Conclusion: For us to be prepared to live as citizen in heaven we must begin learning in this present life. This can be done only when we commit ourselves completely to a life of faith in Jesus Christ.
